A career found through iterative development . . . . . .

The move into web development was more of a happy accident for me, rather than a turn made by design or through careful consideration. I simply saw a need in the company where I was working at the time and stuck my neck out; learning the necessary skills as I came to need them, I’ve been building on them ever since.

Of course, early on I was working as the sole developer, relying on online training and resources to develop my technical skills, but more recently I have had opportunity to work in a much more collaborative way, in an Agile environment. Having several perspectives on the same technical problem or challenge is really exciting, arriving at a solid solution and the opportunity for all to learn new skills and approaches to tasks that may have taken us down a new branch of discovery.

As a project develops, I love the sense of satisfaction that comes from delivering each piece of value to the user, knowing that all of the moving parts have come together to create something that the team can be proud to deliver.

My strengths lie in being able to quickly learn new skills, technologies and approaches to web development along with problem solving and the ability to collaborate with others.

Employing methods such as Model View ViewModel (MVVM) and Model View Controller (MVC) to organise code, I have so far gained skills in technologies such as JavaScript, React.js, HTML, SCSS/CSS, C#, SQL to name a few, but I’m always keen to keep learning!

I am a recent graduate from the Coding Dojo Bootcamp which has many schools in many locations. Coding Dojo is a school that teaches five of the top programming languages. Such as JAVA, PYTHON, C#/.NET, MERN and RUBY. Which again I am proud to say that I am a graduate from the Python Django Stack.

Although I graduated with a firm knowledge of Python, Django, and SQL my skills are not limited to these technologies. I also have knowledge of the MERN stack, which includes Mongo DB, Express, React and Node. Of course, there is also the basics HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap and even jQuery which I am familiar with.
